CFS Storage Plus is an ethanol-free unleaded petrol, designed to be storage stable for up to three years.

Why Use an Ethanol-free Fuel?

As many classic car, bike, and boat owners have discovered, modern unleaded petrol is hygroscopic due to the mandatory inclusion of ethanol in all premium unleaded and most super unleaded forecourt fuels. The ethanol content, once around 5–7%, is now 10% in premium unleaded (hence the name E10). This presents a challenge for owners of older vehicles, as fuel systems built before 2002—or those not updated to cope with ethanol-blended fuels—are particularly vulnerable.

High levels of ethanol in petroleum fuel increase moisture levels, which promotes rust and corrosion in the fuel system. Carburettors and fuel lines are especially at risk, since ethanol itself is corrosive to aluminium, bronze, and zinc typically found in carburettors. These problems are worsened during long periods of non-use.

To address these issues, CFS Storage Plus and CFS Storage 5-Star have been specifically formulated to be kinder on gaskets, O-rings, and other fuel system components compared to standard unleaded petrol. Both contain detergent additives for engine cleanliness, as well as antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors to extend storage life. When stored in airtight, opaque fuel containers, each fuel should remain storage stable for 3–5 years.
